The Legend of Sleepy Hollow 2023

DIRECTED BY: Otto “Tank” lowe

Early on a September morning the villagers of Sleepy Hollow await their new schoolmaster. When Ichabod finally arrives, his priggish correctness casts a pall over the gossipy, prank-playing townsfolk. Soon enough, though, his genteel manners and his hymn singing impress the ladies, including Katrina Van Tassel, the town belle. The menfolk are less thrilled, especially Brom Bones, Katrina's beau, and he begins plotting to rid himself of his unwelcome rival. Matters come to a head during the Van Tassel's Halloween party, after which the superstitious Ichabod is accosted on his lonely ride home by a fiendish apparition, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next morning Ichabod has disappeared, leaving behind only a song in the wind, and a new legend is born.

Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer”

Produced By Special Arrangement With THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY Of Woodstock, Illinois

The child in all of us never gets tired of reliving again and again the antics and adventures of Tom, Huck, Becky Thatcher and all the rest of Mark Twain's beloved characters. All the familiar characters are here—Huckleberry Finn, Aunt Polly, Becky Thatcher, Widow Douglas, Muff Potter, Cousin Mary and menacing Injun Joe. The action flows well, and scenes fly by in a lively fashion: the classic "fence-painting" scene, the school lessons from strict Mr. Dobbins, the eerie murder of Doc Robinson in the graveyard at midnight, the pirate journey to Jackson's Island where buried treasure proves very dangerous, Tom's side-splitting "funeral," Tom's courtship of Becky and other scenes from the immortal classic.

The Sound of Music-2001

directed by kim durr

The final collaboration between Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music, has become a play beloved around the world. Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, this play captures a personal tale of growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. The Sound of Music tells the tale of young postulant Maria Rainer, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children, Maria transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy, with laughter, and with music. In the process, Maria wins the hearts of all seven children -- and their widower father, Captain Von Trapp. With the Mother Abbess’ blessing, and to the children’s delight, Maria follows her heart, and Maria and the Captain marry. Upon returning home from their honeymoon, Maria and the Captain learn that their beloved Austria has been taken over by the Nazis, and the retired Captain is asked to report for immediate service in the Nazi Navy. When the Nazis show up at their door to take Captain Von Trapp away, it is a family singing engagement (wily navigated by their friend Max) that buys the family time to make their narrow escape. Their Austrian convictions compel Maria, the Captain, and the children to flee over the mountains of Switzerland to safety, taking the words of the Mother Abbess to heart: “Climb Every Mountain… till you find your dream.”

The King and I-2003

directed by kim durr

Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I is a moving, radiant story of East meets West. It is the early 1860s when newly widowed Anna Leonowens and her son, Louis, set sail from their native England for Bangkok, Siam (now Thailand). Anna, still grieving, has her sights set on a new adventure and taken a position as the schoolteacher for the royal offspring of the King of Siam. The King is determined to usher Siam into the modern world and he thinks Western education can be a part of that-yet, Anna is horrified at first by many of the traditions that he holds dear. Anna and the King struggle to find common ground. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by rulers of the West, and he takes Anna on as an adviser, asking for help to change his image- if not his actual practice. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King teach each other about understanding, respect, and love that can transcend the greatest of differences. Beneath the fraught, fiercely opinionated, conflict-ridden surface of Anna and the King's relationship lies one of the most unique love stories in the musical theatre canon.

When Oliver is picked up on the street by a boy named the Artful Dodger, he is welcomed into a gang of child pickpockets led by the conniving, but charismatic, Fagin. When Oliver is falsely accused of a theft he didn't commit, he is rescued by a kind and and wealthy gentleman, to the dismay of Fagin's sidekick, Bill Sykes. Caught in the middle is the warm-hearted Nancy, who is trapped under Bill's thumb, but desperate to help Oliver, with tragic results. Greater Tuna-2015

Directed by Marlyn Koons

Greater Tuna is set in the town of Tuna, Texas, the “third-smallest” town in the state, populated with many eccentric characters that come to life in this comedic show.  The two-man production stars WCT veterans Gavin Drew and Preston T. Wright. Together they play a total of twenty different characters, male and female. Hilarity mounts as they quickly switch characters, costumes, and voices throughout the show.

Cast

Gavin Drew: Gavin has been performing in musicals since the age of five, and has performed in 20+ main stage musicals in this time. He placed first at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, and was nominated for two Anthony Awards for his work onstage. Gavin spent the summer of 2015 studying with the New York Film Academy's musical theatre branch under the direction of Wicked's Kristy Cates. Gavin says that he feels at home playing the many characters of Tuna, Texas. "This who was a challenge I was definitely up for!"

Preston Wright: Preston started with Kim Mann at Pizzazz School of Performing Arts in Elementary School, then began a six year career with the Norwell Show Choirs through Middle School and High School. He has placed within the top rankings at many vocal competitions across Indiana and Ohio, claiming titles of "Grand Champion," "First Runner-Up,", and "Outstanding Male Soloist." Preston plays an active role in the Wells County Teen Court as a volunteer.
