Creative Arts Summer Theater Intensive focuses on bringing students of all backgrounds to be apart of a full production start to finish in 2 weeks. This fast paced rehearsal process based around students originated here in 2019 and hasn’t stopped growing. This program is a safe environment to explore the art of theater for students between the ages of 8 to 18. We want our theater students to have a well-rounded education in Theater so allowing them to see the process from start to finish opens up a new appreciation for theater and its performance process. Plus….we have a LOT of fun!

  • As mentioned before this is a fast paced rehearsal process that results in a full production in the end of the 2 weeks. This requires everyone to be ready and be able to adapt. Below are some thoughts to keep in mind while approaching the productions.

    Rehearsal

-Arrive at the beginning of the intensive with lines and songs memorized.

-Every rehearsal bring script, pencil or pen and highlighter, and a water bottle. Optional: a sweatshirt (it gets chilly in the auditorium)

-Clothes and shoes you are able to dance in comfortably.

    Performance

-Hair should be back and out of face, unless requested otherwise

-Black long sleeve shirt and black long pants (ensemble for sure!)

-Character shoes, or dark shoes that you can dance in

    -No personal jewelry

-Stage make-up should be neutral, unless specifically instructed otherwise. Tutorials linked below to neutral make-up look.

    Stage make-up (female)

    Stage make-up (male)

  • What to expect:

-Be prepared to sing a song of your choice, or one that is chosen for you by CAC, depending on your age bracket. It is wise to choose a song that thoroughly expresses your vocal range.

-Be prepared to read sides (portions of scenes from the show). Doing this will display your acting chops, quick-thinking skills, and show the auditioners what you sound like speaking.

-Be prepared to dance. You will be taught some basic choreography and then will perform it for the auditioners.

-Here at Creative Arts, we believe you dress for success. We ask that each student dress appropriately and professionally. Wear something you can dance and move comfortably in, but is still polished and presents well.

-We will be taking a photo of each cast member. These photos will be displayed in our performance space.

  • Starting in 2023, we began our Kids productions for ages 8-12. CAC decided we require a little more help with the littles and we wanted to invite our older students to get more involved and get experience on the other side of the theater not often seen by the audience or people their age. Several high-schoolers jumped at the opportunity and were wonderful! For 2024, we are opening it up again to High School and College age Students to get involved and get experience being backstage crew workers. We want our theater students to be well rounded and explore theater in a safe environment.

Opportunities for the older students are open in the sound, light, stage managing, sets, Student leader, and costumes side of our theater department.

    The application is available HERE.
